Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports the latest CUs and GDR updates
Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports the latest Cumulative Updates (CU) and General Distribution Release (GDR) updates across several SQL Server versions, including 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2025. These updates address critical security vulnerabilities identified by specific CVEs. Users are recommended to upgrade their RDS for SQL Server instances to apply these important security and performance improvements through the management console, SDK, or CLI.

Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports the latest CU and GDR updates for Microsoft SQL Server versions 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2025. These updates include fixes for vulnerabilities described in CVE-2026-47295, CVE-2026-47296, CVE-2026-54118, and CVE-2026-55002.
