Amazon Redshift now supports cross-Region S3 data lake queries
Amazon Redshift has added support for querying Amazon S3 data lake tables located in different AWS Regions. This feature eliminates the need for data copying or replication, facilitating global analytics, consolidated reporting, and adherence to data residency requirements. Enhanced VPC routing ensures that data lake query traffic between Redshift and S3 remains entirely within the customer's VPC, never traversing public networks. This capability particularly benefits security-sensitive enterprises and regulated industries like financial services, healthcare, and government by maintaining strict network boundaries for data compliance.
