feature announcement

AWS has launched the next generation of AgentCore Runtime, the serverless microVM compute within Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. This update introduces elastic memory management, reducing costs by charging for actual usage rather than peak allocation, and significantly improves cold start consistency. Engineers using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore will experience faster agent initialization and more efficient resource utilization. The new Runtime is available in select regions and can be activated by setting `platformVersion` to `V2`.

Enhancements (1)
  • Next-gen AgentCore Runtime delivers elastic memory and consistent cold starts

The new AgentCore Runtime for Amazon Bedrock AgentCore features elastic memory management that reclaims unused memory, leading to cost savings by billing for actual usage. It also provides consistent cold start times by snapshotting the agent environment, achieving P75 cold starts of 1.9-2.0 seconds across various image sizes.
