    AWS announces the general availability of its second Local Zone in EMEA, located in Athens, Greece. This zone is designed to help customers meet local data residency requirements by enabling data storage and processing within Greece.

  • Supports S3 and EBS Local Snapshots for data residency

    The Athens Local Zone supports Amazon S3 with the One Zone-Infrequent Access storage class and Amazon EBS with Local Snapshots. This allows customers to store and process data within Greece, aiding compliance with stringent data residency regulations.

  • Offers broad support for AWS compute and networking services

    The zone supports Amazon EC2 with C7i, M7i, and R7i instances, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, Amazon VPC, AWS Direct Connect, and Application Load Balancer. Customers can leverage familiar APIs, tools, and security features from AWS Regions.
