Deprecations (1)
  • End of Support for Netherite Backend

Support for Netherite, a backend provider for Azure Durable Functions, will cease on March 31, 2028. Function apps using Netherite will remain operational but will not be supported, meaning assistance for issues related to these apps will no longer be available.

Features (1)
  • Introduction of Durable Task Scheduler

The durable task scheduler, a new fully managed, high-performance backend for durable functions, is currently in preview. This scheduler offers reduced operational overhead compared to user-managed storage backends and includes features like a monitoring dashboard and RBAC support.

Notes (1)
  • Migration Recommendation

Users of Netherite are encouraged to evaluate the durable task scheduler as a replacement. While the scheduler is in public preview, it is recommended for evaluation purposes, with general availability expected before Netherite's end-of-support to facilitate migration. Production workloads are advised to wait for the scheduler's general availability.
