Azure Durable Functions: Netherite Support Ends March 31, 2028
Azure Durable Functions will end support for the Netherite backend provider on March 31, 2028. Customers using Netherite for high throughput are advised to evaluate the new, fully managed durable task scheduler, currently in preview. While Netherite-enabled apps will continue to function, they will not receive support after the end-of-support date.

Support for Netherite, a backend provider for Azure Durable Functions, will cease on March 31, 2028. Function apps using Netherite will remain operational but will not be supported, meaning assistance for issues related to these apps will no longer be available.

The durable task scheduler, a new fully managed, high-performance backend for durable functions, is currently in preview. This scheduler offers reduced operational overhead compared to user-managed storage backends and includes features like a monitoring dashboard and RBAC support.

Users of Netherite are encouraged to evaluate the durable task scheduler as a replacement. While the scheduler is in public preview, it is recommended for evaluation purposes, with general availability expected before Netherite's end-of-support to facilitate migration. Production workloads are advised to wait for the scheduler's general availability.
