Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) introduces Flex Nodes in public preview
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) introduces Flex Nodes into public preview, allowing application and platform teams to connect hybrid and edge infrastructure as worker nodes to an Azure-based AKS control plane. This capability offers a consistent Kubernetes experience while enabling compute to reside at the edge for latency, regulatory, or sovereign needs. Flex Nodes are designed for connected environments where only worker nodes run on customer infrastructure. This is ideal for applications like AI inference, data processing, and industrial use cases requiring local execution without local operational overhead.

- Extend AKS to hybrid and edge with Flex Nodes
Flex Nodes for AKS allow hybrid and edge infrastructure to function as connected worker nodes for an Azure Kubernetes Service control plane. This provides a consistent Kubernetes experience while running compute at the edge to meet latency, regulatory, or sovereignty requirements. It's suitable for applications like AI inference and industrial workloads that need local execution but not local cluster operations.
