Azure SQL Database FSV2-Series Hardware Retirement Details
This post details the upcoming retirement of the FSV2-series hardware option for Azure SQL Database, originally launched in 2020. Due to limited regional availability, support for this hardware will end on October 1, 2026, impacting users currently or planning to use FSV2-series. Customers are advised to migrate to Hyperscale premium-series or General-purpose standard-series (Gen5) before the retirement date.

- Retirement of Azure SQL Database FSV2-Series Hardware
Support for the FSV2-series hardware option for Azure SQL Database will be retired on October 1, 2026. Customers will not be able to create new FSV2-series databases starting October 1, 2025.
- Action Required: Migrate from FSV2-Series
Existing FSV2-series customers must migrate their databases to other Azure SQL Database options before October 1, 2026, when support ends. Post-retirement, remaining FSV2-series databases will be migrated to the General-purpose tier with similar configurations.

Users are recommended to transition to the Hyperscale premium-series or General-purpose standard-series (Gen5) service tiers to maintain comparable performance levels.
