Bring business context with external custom properties to GitHub

GitHub now introduces external custom properties, allowing organizations to seamlessly integrate business context from external systems of record, such as CMDBs or internal developer portals, into their repositories. This feature ensures that critical information like ownership, service tier, and compliance status remains synchronized and read-only within GitHub, preventing conflicting updates. It empowers enterprises to use this contextual data for repository views, filtering, and ruleset targeting while maintaining the external system as the authoritative source. External custom properties are currently available in public preview, with Port.io as an initial integration partner and API access for custom solutions.
