GitHub Copilot for JetBrains 1.18.0 introduces significant enhancements for AI-assisted development, including public preview of AI-assisted tool approvals and the ability to re-edit prior agent messages. The update also adds support for shared organizational skills and instructions, alongside plan mode for the Codex agent, improving collaborative and guided workflows. Users now have finer control over MCP tools and benefit from various UI/UX improvements and bug fixes. Developers on JetBrains IDEs version 2025.1 will receive an advance notice to upgrade to 2026.1 or later.
