Amazon EC2 C8g Instances Expand Availability

awsengineerenergyaws-ec2
feature

Amazon EC2 C8g instances, powered by Graviton4 processors, are now available in four additional AWS regions: Paris, Cape Town, Tel Aviv, and Calgary. These instances offer up to 30% better performance than Graviton3-based instances and are designed for compute-intensive workloads, providing significant improvements for databases, web applications, and Java applications. They are built on the AWS Nitro System and offer larger instance sizes and enhanced networking and EBS bandwidth.

Features (1)
  • EC2 C8g instances with Graviton4 processors now available in more regions

Amazon EC2 C8g instances are now available in the Europe (Paris), Africa (Cape Town), Israel (Tel Aviv), and Canada West (Calgary) regions. These instances are powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, offering up to 30% better performance than Graviton3-based instances.

Enhancements (2)
  • Improved performance for compute-intensive workloads

C8g instances are optimized for compute-intensive workloads including HPC, batch processing, gaming, and ML inference. AWS Graviton4 processors provide up to 40% faster performance for databases, 30% for web applications, and 45% for large Java applications compared to Graviton3 processors.

  • Enhanced instance sizes and networking capabilities

These instances offer larger sizes with up to 3x more vCPUs and memory than previous Graviton3-based C7g instances. They also provide up to 50 Gbps of enhanced networking bandwidth and 40 Gbps of Amazon EBS bandwidth.

Notes (1)
  • Built on AWS Nitro System for enhanced performance and security

The C8g instances are built on the AWS Nitro System, which offloads virtualization, storage, and networking functions to dedicated hardware and software, improving workload performance and security.
