Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-Flex instances available in Europe (Milan)

Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances, powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, are now available in the Europe (Milan) region. These instances offer improved price-performance and memory bandwidth compared to previous generations, benefiting memory-intensive workloads and specific applications like PostgreSQL, NGINX, and AI recommendation models. Both instance types are available for purchase via Savings Plans, On-Demand, and Spot instances, with R8i-flex providing flexible pricing for common sizes and R8i offering larger sizes and bare metal options for demanding applications, including SAP.

    Amazon EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances are now available in the AWS Europe (Milan) region. These instances feature custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, delivering enhanced performance and memory bandwidth for memory-intensive workloads.

  • R8i-Flex instances for memory-intensive workloads

    R8i-flex instances are designed as memory-optimized Flex instances, offering common sizes to provide price-performance benefits for a majority of memory-intensive workloads that may not fully utilize all compute resources.

  • R8i instances for demanding and large-scale workloads

    R8i instances are suitable for all memory-intensive workloads, particularly those requiring larger instance sizes or continuous high CPU usage. They come in 13 sizes, including bare metal options and a new 96xlarge size for extensive applications.

  • SAP-certified performance for R8i instances

    The R8i instances are SAP-certified, delivering the highest aSAPS score among comparable machines in on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring exceptional performance for critical SAP workloads.

    The R8i and R8i-flex instances offer up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation Intel-based instances. They also provide up to 20% higher performance than R7i instances, with significant gains for specific applications like PostgreSQL, NGINX, and AI recommendation models.
