Features (1)
  • EC2 R8g instances launched in new AWS regions

Amazon EC2 R8g instances, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, are now available in AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand, New Zealand), AWS Africa (Cape Town), AWS Europe (Milan), and AWS Canada West (Calgary) regions. These instances offer improved performance and energy efficiency for memory-intensive workloads.

Enhancements (2)
  • Graviton4 processors improve performance and efficiency

The new R8g instances deliver up to 30% better performance than Graviton3-based instances and are up to 45% faster for large Java applications. They offer larger instance sizes with up to 3x more vCPU and memory, enhancing performance for databases and web applications.

  • Enhanced networking and EBS bandwidth

R8g instances provide up to 50 Gbps of enhanced networking bandwidth and up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS). These instances are built on the AWS Nitro System for improved performance and security.

Notes (1)
  • Resources for migration and getting started

Information is available to learn more about Amazon EC2 R8g Instances, explore migration to Graviton-based instances via the AWS Graviton Fast Start program, and use the Porting Advisor for Graviton. Getting started can be done via the AWS Management Console.
