Amazon EKS Auto Mode now supports advanced compute configurations
Amazon EKS Auto Mode has added support for advanced compute configurations, allowing users to tune kubelet settings, Linux kernel sysctls, and hugepages directly through the NodeClass Kubernetes resource. This enhancement enables workloads requiring specific node tuning to run on EKS Auto Mode, which automates node provisioning, scaling, patching, and upgrades. Users can configure settings such as user namespaces, eviction thresholds, container log rotation, network limits, and pre-allocate hugepages for HPC or latency-sensitive workloads. These settings are applied declaratively via the new `advancedCompute` field and are available in all AWS Regions where EKS Auto Mode is present.
Features (1) ›
- Configure kubelet, sysctls, and hugepages in EKS Auto Mode
EKS Auto Mode now allows advanced compute configurations via the NodeClass Kubernetes resource, enabling direct tuning of kubelet settings, Linux kernel sysctls, and hugepages. This functionality supports workloads needing specific node tuning, such as those requiring user namespaces for rootless containers, custom eviction thresholds, or pre-allocated hugepages for HPC and database applications, without manual EC2 management.
