Amazon EMR Extends No-Cost Support for Older Releases During Migrations
Amazon EMR now provides extended, no-cost support for customers actively migrating off older releases, preventing them from reaching end of support prematurely. This gives users more time to plan and move to current versions, with critical security fixes for releases 5.36 and 6.6-6.15 through June 2027, and for 7.0-7.10 through August 2027. The policy applies across all EMR deployment models and requires customers to contact AWS Support with a migration plan to receive the extension.

Amazon EMR now offers extended, no-cost support for releases 5.36 and 6.6-6.15 until June 30, 2027, and for 7.0-7.10 until August 31, 2027. This allows customers more time to migrate their workloads to current releases across all EMR deployment models and regions, provided they contact AWS Support with a migration plan.
