Amazon OpenSearch Service adds IDE integration for observability
Amazon OpenSearch Service now integrates with agentic IDEs like VS Code and Claude Desktop through MCP Apps, allowing AI agents to investigate incidents using logs, traces, and metrics. This feature enables users to perform root cause analysis and review results in interactive visualizations within their IDE without context switching. The integration supports various observability workflows, from alerting to cross-signal correlation, and is available in all AWS Regions offering OpenSearch UI.

- Integrate observability workflows into agentic IDEs
Amazon OpenSearch Service now supports MCP Apps, bringing observability workflows directly into compatible agentic IDEs such as Claude Desktop and VS Code. This allows AI agents to investigate incidents using logs, traces, metrics, and alerts stored in OpenSearch domains and Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus.
- Interactive visualizations within IDE for incident investigation
Users can easily review and verify incident investigation results in interactive MCP App visualizations without leaving their local IDE environment. Each tool call provides both a text summary for the agent and a visualization for the user within the same conversation thread.
- Comprehensive observability workflows supported
The integration supports working alongside an observability agent for tasks including alert investigation, root cause analysis, exploring distributed traces, service maps, PromQL metric charts, and cross-signal correlations. Available tools cover log, metrics and trace investigation, service performance, topology, dynamic visualizations, and agent/cluster health.

- Availability and getting started
The OpenSearch MCP app experience is available in all AWS Regions where Amazon OpenSearch UI is offered. Instructions for getting started are available in OpenSearch Agentic observability with MCP Apps.
