Amazon RDS for MySQL adds MySQL 9.7 support in preview
Amazon RDS for MySQL now supports community MySQL 9.7 in the RDS Database Preview Environment, enabling evaluation of the latest LTS release. This allows users to test applications and new capabilities before general availability. The preview instances are retained for 60 days and priced the same as production instances in us-east-1.

Amazon RDS for MySQL now supports community MySQL 9.7 within the RDS Database Preview Environment. This feature allows users to evaluate the latest Long-Term Support release of MySQL on Amazon RDS.

- Purpose and limitations of the preview environment
The preview environment serves as a sandbox for testing applications and exploring new MySQL 9.7 capabilities. Database instances in this environment are retained for a maximum of 60 days and snapshots are restricted to the preview environment only.

Instances created within the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment are priced identically to production RDS instances deployed in the US East (Ohio) Region.
