Amazon RDS for Oracle adds Reserved Instances for R8i/M8i

Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports 1-year and 3-year Reserved Instances for R8i and M8i instance types, offering up to 53% cost savings. These instances use custom Intel processors for improved performance and memory bandwidth, benefiting customers running various Oracle database workloads. Reserved Instances are available in most AWS regions, excluding São Paulo, and can be purchased via the AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDK.

    Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports 1-year and 3-year Reserved Instances for R8i and M8i instances, promising up to 53% cost savings. These instances feature custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with high performance and memory bandwidth. Reserved Instance benefits extend to both Multi-AZ and Single-AZ configurations and offer size flexibility under the BYOL licensing model.

    R8i and M8i instances provide up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth compared to previous Intel-based instances. This enhancement aims to deliver greater efficiency for Oracle database workloads on RDS.

  • Availability and purchase options

    Reserved Instances for Amazon RDS for Oracle are available in all AWS regions where R8i and M8i instances are offered, with the exception of the South America (São Paulo) Region. Customers can purchase these instances through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK.
