AWS Elastic Beanstalk automates Active Directory domain join for Windows Server
AWS Elastic Beanstalk now automates the process of joining Windows Server instances in an environment to an Active Directory domain managed via AWS Directory Service. This eliminates the need for custom scripts, simplifying the deployment of domain-joined Windows workloads and enabling features like Windows-integrated authentication and group policy application. It supports automatic joining at boot, even for auto-scaled instances, and ensures deployments complete even if an instance fails to join the domain. The capability is available for Windows Server platform versions released on or after August 18, 2026, across all AWS Commercial and GovCloud Regions.

AWS Elastic Beanstalk now automatically joins Windows Server instances in an environment to an Active Directory domain managed via AWS Directory Service. This removes the need for custom join scripts, allowing instances to use Windows-integrated authentication, apply group policy, and access domain resources. Instances join the domain at boot, including those launched by auto scaling, and deployments will still complete even if an instance fails to join the domain.
