AWS Glue adds large and memory-optimized workers in Spain region

dataawsengineer
feature

AWS Glue has expanded its offerings in the Europe (Spain) region by introducing large and memory-optimized worker types. These new options, including G.12X, G.16X, R.1X, R.2X, R.4X, and R.8X, enhance capabilities for complex data processing, aggregations, and memory-intensive Spark operations. Customers in the region can now leverage these resources for higher-volume data processing and intricate transformations, accessible via Glue Studio, notebooks, or APIs.

Features (1)
  • Large and memory-optimized AWS Glue workers now available in Europe (Spain)

AWS Glue now offers large compute (G.12X, G.16X) and memory-optimized (R.1X, R.2X, R.4X, R.8X) worker types in the AWS Europe (Spain) Region. These additions provide enhanced capacity for complex data processing, joins, aggregations, and memory-intensive Spark operations.

Enhancements (1)
  • Improved worker options for complex data workloads

The new G-series workers provide increased compute, memory, and storage for resource-intensive tasks, while the R-series workers offer double the memory of G counterparts for memory-bound Spark operations. Customers can select these worker types through AWS Glue Studio, notebooks, Visual ETL, or Glue Job APIs.
