Databricks introduces LTAP Direct Writes for faster Synced Table loads (Beta)
Databricks has released LTAP Direct Writes in Beta, designed to significantly accelerate how synced tables load into Lakebase. This feature enhances initial loads and full refreshes by writing data directly to the storage layer, bypassing the compute endpoint. It reduces competition with queries and ensures faster completion for large data transfers within Lakebase. The functionality requires a project running Postgres 17 and can be enabled by a workspace admin from the Previews page.

- Accelerated Synced Table Loads with LTAP Direct Writes
LTAP Direct Writes improves the performance of synced table loads into Lakebase by writing data directly to the storage layer. This method accelerates initial data loads and full refreshes, ensuring large data transfers complete faster without consuming compute resources needed for active queries. It is available in Beta and requires a project with Postgres 17, enabled by a workspace admin.
