READ METADATA Privilege Reaches General Availability in Databricks Unity Catalog
The `READ METADATA` privilege is now generally available within Databricks Unity Catalog. This new capability offers read-only visibility into security-sensitive metadata, including privilege grants, row filters, column masks, and ABAC policies, which the `BROWSE` privilege does not expose. It is designed to assist users such as security auditors, data governance teams, and SREs in inspecting and debugging access controls. The privilege can be granted on a variety of object types.
