GitHub Actions Removes Expired Artifacts From UI and API
GitHub Actions has updated its handling of expired artifacts, which are now completely removed from the UI's run summary and the REST API. This change addresses user confusion caused by previously visible "Expired" labels for artifacts whose underlying files had already been deleted from storage. While expired artifacts are no longer displayed, information about a workflow run's produced artifacts remains accessible within the run's logs. This update clarifies the artifact lifecycle without affecting retention settings or billing.

Expired artifacts in GitHub Actions are no longer shown in the workflow run summary UI or returned by the REST API. This change resolves prior ambiguity for users who saw "Expired" labels for artifacts already deleted from storage, clarifying that no billing applies. Workflow run logs still retain information about produced artifacts after they expire.
