The GitHub Copilot app introduces local sandboxing for agents, now in public preview, to limit their access to files, networks, and credentials. It also integrates OpenTelemetry, configured through enterprise-managed settings, for tracking agent activity in existing monitoring tools.
- Improved Copilot Experience in Slack and Microsoft Teams
Copilot in Slack and Microsoft Teams now allows users to choose the best model mid-conversation, retaining the selection for the thread. It also prevents duplicate issues by checking for similar existing ones and offers clearer status for longer-running tasks, along with support for sharing files and message links in Slack.
- JetBrains IDE Integration Enhancements for Copilot
For Copilot agent sessions in JetBrains, assisted approvals are now in public preview, automatically approving low-risk tool calls. Users can also edit earlier messages to redirect an agent session, which rewinds the conversation and file changes. Shared organization skills and custom instructions are now supported.
- VS Code 1.139 Release Updates for Copilot
The VS Code 1.139 release for Copilot supports running agents in Dev Containers on SSH, Tunnel, and WSL hosts, leveraging remote project tools. It also introduces a Compact View for session lists, filters to hide empty groups, and the ability to rename sessions. A new layout option for separate chat tabs or a single active-chat view is available in preview.
