Kubenet Networking for AKS Retiring March 31, 2028

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) will retire Kubenet networking on March 31, 2028. To prevent service disruptions, users must migrate to Azure Container Networking Interface (CNI) overlay before this date. Workloads running on Kubenet for AKS will lose support, and migrating to Azure CNI overlay offers benefits like increased scalability.

    Kubenet networking for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) will be retired on March 31, 2028. After this date, workloads running on Kubenet for AKS will no longer be supported.

  • Upgrade to Azure CNI overlay recommended

    Users are instructed to upgrade to Azure Container Networking Interface (CNI) overlay before the retirement date to avoid service disruptions. Azure CNI overlay provides similar IP address overlay architecture to Kubenet, along with new capabilities for enhanced scalability.
