Amazon EC2 M9g and M9gd instances, powered by AWS Graviton5 processors, are now generally available. These new instances offer up to 25% better compute performance than previous generations and are designed for general-purpose and agentic AI workloads. They are available in select regions and purchasing options, with M9gd instances providing high-speed local NVMe storage for specific use cases like media processing.

- General availability of EC2 M9g and M9gd instances with Graviton5
Amazon EC2 M9g and M9gd instances, powered by the fifth generation AWS Graviton5 processors, are now generally available. These instances offer improved price-performance for general-purpose workloads.
- Enhanced performance for general-purpose and AI workloads
M9g instances are suitable for application servers, microservices, gaming, caching, containers, and agentic AI use cases. They deliver up to 25% better compute performance compared to Graviton4 instances, with significant speedups for databases, web applications, and machine learning.
- M9gd instances provide high-speed local storage
M9gd instances include local NVMe-based SSD storage for demanding applications like media processing, batch and log processing, and those requiring temporary storage such as caches and scratch files.
- Nitro System with Isolation Engine enhances security
These instances are built on the sixth-generation AWS Nitro System and introduce the Nitro Isolation Engine, which uses formal verification to provide mathematical assurance of workload isolation for enhanced cloud security.
