Amazon RDS Now Supports Multi-AZ Deployments for SQL Server Developer Edition
Amazon RDS for SQL Server now offers Multi-AZ deployments using Always On Availability Groups for its Developer Edition. This enhancement allows developers and testers to build and test high availability configurations in non-production environments. It provides automatic failover and synchronous standby replicas without incurring Enterprise Edition licensing costs. The feature is available for SQL Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 Enterprise Developer Edition, but not for 2025 Standard Developer Edition.
